Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has announced more specifics regarding the upcoming Home Care Worker Immigration Pilots 2025, which will introduce more relaxed eligibility criteria for language proficiency, work experience, and educational qualifications.
The Home Care Worker Immigration Pilots 2025 are two new immigration pathways that do not require a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA), allowing foreign home care workers to secure employment and become permanent residents (PR) upon arrival in Canada. These pathways are expected to begin on March 31, 2025.
IRCC has clarified that, initially, the Home Care Worker Immigration Pilots 2025 will only accept applications from candidates already residing in Canada. Applicants living outside the country will be able to apply later.
The IRCC has provided additional details about these pathways, which include the following:
- The specific streams available under the Home Care Worker Immigration Pilots 2025;
- The eligibility criteria concerning language proficiency, work experience, and job offers;
- Whether out-of-status workers in Canada are eligible to apply;
- Guidance for those who were previously applying to the now-closed Home Child Care Worker and Home Support Worker Pilots.
What are the streams available under the new Home Care Worker Immigration Pilots?
Foreign nationals can apply for the Home Care Worker Immigration Pilots 2025 through one of two streams:
- The Workers in Canada stream;
- The Applicants not working in Canada stream.
At launch in late March, only the Workers in Canada stream will begin accepting applications. The Applicants not working in Canada stream will open its intake later in the year.
IRCC recommends that prospective applicants for the Home Care Worker Immigration Pilots Requirements take an approved language test and obtain an Education Credential Assessment (ECA) before the program’s launch in March.
The application process for the Applicants not working in Canada stream is not yet available. More information will be provided once released by IRCC.
It is crucial to note that the Home Care Worker Immigration Pilots Document Checklist and the guidelines on how to prepare may change at any time. IRCC advises those interested to frequently check their website for the latest updates.
