Warranty implications of a tie-in
A manufacturer’s warranty on a new roof section typically has boundaries, and a tie-in to an existing, differently-aged, possibly differently-manufactured roof system can raise warranty questions that are worth resolving before construction, not after a claim is filed. Some manufacturers will warranty a tie-in detail if it uses their specified transition products and is installed by their authorized contractor; others may exclude the tie-in zone from full coverage regardless.
